Coflo will be introducing and exploring some basic steps and fundamentals of “House Dance.” Learn this expressive social dance with Coflo through basic movements made for any level of person looking to get it in! The Instructor prides himself on sharing/teaching dance for both the new and seasoned dancer. Most importantly, Coflo is a true house head. Cody “Coflo” Ferreira, from the Bay Area, is one of California’s longest running teachers of the style “House Dance”. With over 20 years of dance study he has won various American House Dance championships as well as has toured multiple countries teaching and performing. Coflo prides himself on sharing/teaching dance for both the new and seasoned artist. Most importantly, Coflo is a true house head.

Brain Respiration Qi Gong (pronounced chee-gung) is translated from Mandarin to mean “cultivation of energy”. To respire means to “recover hope, courage, or strength after a time of difficulty and or breathe”. The Brain Respiration Qi Gong class uses an ancient Chinese system of postures, breathing techniques and meditations to quickly relax the body and promote inner peace. The many benefits of Brain Respiration include reduced stress, enhanced health, increased creativity and improved ability to interact harmoniously with others. Michael Gauthier is a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner. He earned his Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. He comes from an ancient lineage of holistic doctors originating from China, Taiwan, France and Native America (Northern Shoshone). The focus of his practice is to harmonize the mind, body and soul through different modalities such as Brain Respiration Qi Gong, Tuina bodywork, I-Ching numerology and Chinese Herbal medicine.

Vihn Sol will be introducing and exploring some basic steps and fundamentals of “House Dance” from the perspective of a New York foundation. Class will guide students through basic movement vocabulary, how to apply it to the music, different variations to create and play with the steps, and finally using it to dance in a social setting (in the club/party) with others. Class is open levels, and is beginner friendly even for first time dancers. Vinh Nguyen comes from the crew “Styles of Eon”, has been part of the house culture and Southern California’s scene for over 10 years. He’s the founder and organizer of Good Vibrations – San Diego’s house dance community. On top of organizing workshops, events, contests and sessions he also started and taught the first house dance workshop in SD back in 2009.

Please join us for an hour long vinyasa based class to start the day. Breath to body movements will awaken the body and energize the mind. This class will allow you to tune inward and to flow freely! BYOM (bring your own mat) and join us to get the collective energy flowing! Ivory Melone is a 500 hour registered yoga teacher based out of San Diego. She is passionate about inspiring healthy living through yoga, meditation, nutrition, and local events. She started up her business, Shaka Chakra, to share her love and knowledge for yoga and wellness with her community. Since being back from her yoga training in Peru, she is excited to be teaching at Weekender!

Camilo Rojas came to California 2 years ago via Colombia. He develops tribute pieces to his favorite comic and anime artists in acrylic on canvas, wood, and glass. He also develops commission based work with his own comic book style technique which has been evolving for the past 6 years. He calls it “Consciencialismo”. Along with his wife they run their Camnia Art Studio in the beautiful North Park, San Diego, and are always welcoming new friends. This year Camilo is creating a new art series to launch at Comic-Con. He’s agreed to let us have a early sneek-peek at the new collection, but he’s also creating something very special just for West Coast Weekender!
